- The students of Software Engineering, Farzeen Zehra, Darakhshan & Maha Javed worked on the OPAC section of Engr. Abdul Kalam Library's website. Previously, the book search feature on EAKL website used a paid API to retrieve the book's cover page, summary, table of contents, and author information. They redesigned the website's workflow so that it is no longer dependent on a fee-based API. The new workflow attempts to fetch a book's data from the Google Books API first. If the book data cannot be found there, a fetch request is made to the Open Library API in order to retrieve all the book information. If that attempt also fails, the library's file server is used to serve the book information including table of contents, author information, book summary and cover page. Both Google Books and Open Library APIs are free making the service completely cost-free. They also received letters of appreciation from the EAK Library.
